DREAM COME TRUE: Scotty Thiel and Greg Wheeler Motorsports to chase World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year honors in 2026

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (December 10, 2025) – It has been Scotty Thiel’s lifelong dream to hit the road with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, and now the Sheboygan, Wisconsin, native and former IRA Outlaw Sprint Series champion will finally get his chance, setting aim on a full-on Rookie of the Year campaign in 2026, all while at the helm of Greg Wheeler’s No. 16C.
“This has been a goal of mine since day one and to say that it’s all finally come together is just an incredible feeling,” Thiel was quick to note. “Greg [Wheeler] and I just started talking one day…ended up bouncing some ideas off of one another and things just kinda aligned. The partnerships all came together at the right time and we were able to put this idea into motion. We still have a few details and a few partnerships to button up, but the wheels are turning and I couldn’t be more grateful.”
Although new to the Greatest Show On Dirt, the “Big Wheel” is far from new to the travel game, spending numerous summers chasing the IRA schedule across Wisconsin and Illinois, all before becoming a regular fixture with the All Star Circuit of Champions. Even since his All Star travel days, Thiel has been criss-crossing much of the Midwest, chasing the region’s biggest money opportunities and open wheel honors – many Outlaws sanctioned.
“The plan is to base our operation out of my shop in Sheboygan while still utilizing Greg Wheeler’s shop in Columbia City, Indiana. Having two locations will make the travel and all other logistics much more manageable,” Thiel continued. “Greg’s passion for the sport and desire to race mirrors the same energy I have. It’s truly a great match and I’m excited for our potential. We’re both ready to take on the challenge and finally compete as full-time Outlaws.”
Scotty Thiel and Greg Wheeler Motorsports will begin their 2026 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Rookie of the Year campaign with a four-night slate at Volusia Speedway Park in DeLeon Springs, Florida, on February 4-7.
