Thiel launches WoO Rookie campaign with solid performances at Volusia, set to return for Bike Week Jamboree

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (February 9, 2026) - “Big Wheel” Scotty Thiel and Greg Wheeler Motorsports made the most of their World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series rookie campaign sendoff at Volusia Speedway Park, and although box scores may not paint the whole picture, notes were assembled and confidence was attained, already aiming big in their return to Volusia for the Bike Week Jamboree in early March.
Thiel, a former IRA Series champion who calls Sheboygan, Wisconsin, home, highlighted his DIRTcar Nationals effort with back-to-back A-Main appearances on Friday and Saturday, February 6-7, finishing 19th and 21st, officially, while achieving important Series points in the process. As noted, Thiel and Greg Wheeler will get their shot at Volusia redemption in just a few weeks, returning for two nights before heading north and west to Alabama.
“It was a decent week for our team, for sure. I just need to knock some rust off,” Thiel, ace of the Scott Thiel Builders, Gibbsville Cheese, Flint Trucking, Professional Plating, No. 16C sprinter, said. “We had some highlights and I’m proud of our efforts. Our results didn’t reflect our potential. I can’t make the mistakes I made against this caliber of guys. You can find yourself behind the eight ball in a hurry. Truly happy with the speed we had. I knew that the package we put together would be good. We have some time off to regroup and get even more prepared to hit the road.”

Scotty Thiel and Greg Wheeler Motorsports will continue their 2026 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Rookie of the Year campaign with a return trip to Volusia Speedway Park for the annual World of Outlaws Bike Week Jamboree on March 1-2.
